IEI has been recognized as Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India and besides conducting its own research, provides Grant -in-Aid to UG/PG/ PhD students of Engineering Institutes & Universities. The Institution of Engineers (India) is the first professional body to represent India in several International Bodies, such as the World Mining Congress (WMC), the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council (CEC), the Federation International du Beton (fib), and the Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA). It also has bilateral agreements with a number of professional societies across the globe. IEI holds the International Professional Engineers (IntPE) Register for India under the global International Professional Engineers Alliance (IntPEA). The Institution also awards the Professional Engineers (PE) Certification. The Institution of Engineers (India) as a pioneer body has been conducting Sections A & B Examinations popularly known as AMIE, successful completion of which is recognized as equivalent to a degree in engineering by the Government of India, the Union Public Service Commission, the State Governments and many Public / Private Sector organizations in the country. Ever since its inception, IEI has been the forerunner in setting up national standards for promoting the country’s industrial base which culminated on the formation of the Indian Standard Institution (ISI), now called as Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). IEI, in collaboration with Springer Nature Pvt. Ltd., regularly publishes peer-reviewed international journals in five Series, covering fifteen engineering disciplines. IEI issues membership certification to the eligible engineers, technologists and scientists. Charter Engineer, Professional Engineer and International Professional Engineer certifications in various disciplines of engineering are also issued by this Institution. During Indian Engineering Congress, National Conventions, Engineers’ Day, recognitions and awards are conferred upon the distinguished engineers in recognition of their contributions in the engineering domain. The Institution maintains a panel of highly qualified and well experienced Arbitrators having technical and professional engineering competence covering 15 core engineering disciplines from amongst its Fellow members who are attached to 125 State and Local Centres of the Institution located all over the country. IEI awards a certificate to the empanelled arbitrators in recognisition of their expertise in the field of arbitration. The Institution appoints arbitrator from its panel of arbitrators in various disputes that arise by and between the parties during execution of works / supplies contracts The State / Local Centres of IEI spread across the country do organise technical activities and provide platform to the stakeholders, technocrats, policy makers and others to share their expertise to benefit the engineering fraternity.
Location : The centre’s premises is centrally located at North Ambazari Road, Nagpur nearer to Rly station and city’s main market area. Premises of NLC is spread in sq. fts. having beautiful garden and Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s Statue on the front side of building.
Conference / Meeting Room : IE(I), Nagpur Local Centre have an air-conditioned meeting room in the premises with excellent seating arrangements of 20 persons for meetings and group discussions.
Conference Halls : IE(I), Nagpur Local Centre have 4 huge halls including one open hall with ample parking area for Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Exhibitions and technical activities. The hall can be used for conducting Seminars, Symposiums, Conferences, Workshops, STTPs, Meetings, Guest Lectures, Film Show, Felicitations and other technical Activities. We extend the services of these Descent halls to the organisers of technical activities conducted by the Colleges, Institutes, Industries, Companies, Organisations & Departments along with dinning hall for lunch & dinner, if required.
Late Er. A. B. Kottewar Hall : The Institution of Engineers (India), Nagpur Local Centre has a full fledged, well furnished, AC and fully decorated Conference Hall in the premises with parking space. It has a Capacity of 100 Nos. with Executive Chairs, adequate Dias and Public Address System. It has adjacent space for high tea. Our centre being located at heart of the city on North Ambazari Road, Nagpur.
Late Shri V. M. Dokras Memorial Hall : The Institution of Engineers (India), Nagpur Local Centre has a well furnished and fully decorated Conference Hall situated in 2100 sq. fts. in the premises. It has a Capacity of 200 Nos. with Executive Chairs, adequate Dias and Public Address System. It has adjacent space for high tea.
Er. P. T. Mase Hall : The Institution of Engineers (India), Nagpur Local Centre has a well furnished and fully decorated Conference Hall situated in 4675 sq. fts. in the premises. It has a Capacity of 600 Nos. with Executive Chairs, adequate Dias and Public Address System. It has adjacent space for high tea.
Open Hall- (Covered Roof) : The Institution of Engineers (India), Nagpur Local Centre has Open Hall of 3600 sq. fts. in the premises. It is used of arranging Lunch and Dinner for 1000 peoles.
Guest Rooms : The centre has 2 guest rooms with 1 no. Single Bed Non AC and 1 no. Double Bed AC for IE(I) Members.
Library : IE(I), Nagpur Local Centre have an excellent library having more than 6000 Technical Books, 21 Periodicals & Technical Journals of various disciplines of engineering and other Magazines. (Membership of library is only for members)
Books on various branches of engineering. The books are purchased and some old books are gifted by the generous donors and most of them are purchased. The student populace is visiting every day for referring these books for their project work.
Number of monthly magazines are also received and they are also useful for keeping the students and members knowledge uptodate.
Nagpur Technicians' Chapter : Guidance & Coaching Centre for upcoming Engineers : IE(I), Nagpur Local Centre have a guidence centre for students & technicians, as well as good teaching & training facility for AMIE students with well equipped classrooms. Examination of Section A and Section B of the Institution of Engineers (India) are held twice in a year (Winter exam and Summer Exam).
Regular activities : The Institution of Engineers (India), Nagpur Local Centre, Nagpur is holding Seminars and Symposia, Lecture Programmes, Film Shows etc. In addition to these we have resolved to hold the Innovative activities every year in February/ March each year. We are holding the Engineers Day falling on the birth day of Sir M. Visvesvarrayya. The new team of Chairman and Hon. Secretary and other elected members is being installes in a Function.
